Illinois city condemns Dick Van Dyke’s childhood home | Fox News
ILLE, Ill. – The childhood home of actor Dick Van Dyke could be torn down after a central Illinois city condemned the dilapidated building.
The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports that the 89-year-old actor took to Twitter this week to call attention to the Danville home he and brother Jerry lived in during high school after relocating from Missouri.
The star of “Mary Poppins” and television’s “The Dick Van Dyke Show” recalled the “happy memories drifting around in there” in a tweet to his 85,200 followers.
Van Dyke told the (Danville) Commercial-News he’d like to know if the home is fixable.
“If it could be fixed maybe we could do something like take a collection up or something,” he said. “Danville is my home and I do still care.”
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer said the city didn’t know the Van Dyke connection when it condemned the house in December. The property’s last owner died in 2011.
Eisenhauer expressed a willingness to donate the property as part of a prospective rehabilitation project, should the city eventually gain ownership.

Who remembers the Clarance Thomas confirmation hearings where a committee of old white guys gave him a high tech lynching? I remember-I will NEVER forget!
Andrew Breitbart’s road from liberalism to conservatism began with those hearings:

I was on the road to conservatism a few years before the attack on Thomas; but it was still was an eye opener.
It only confirmed what i was beginning to see as the truth. Breitbart had his epiphany thanks to Clarance Thomas and the courage it took to stand up to the weasels going after him.
The appointment of Clarance Thomas SHOULD have been celebrated. He was the first black ever appointed to the Supreme Court and so far the ONLY black ever appointed to the Supreme Court. IMHO a bigger deal than Obama getting elected.
You have to know that if you are a black conservative you will have all sorts of racist slurs thrown at you:
uncle tom,sell out, house ‘negro’ and worse.The bizarre part of ppl calling blacks these racist slurs is that nobody believes they are racist slurs. They don’t get called out for it. Thomas was accused by one person of rape and the country went nutz.She had to be telling the truth.She ( will not mention her name) happened to show up at the right time and she also vanished after he was confirmed. Nobody questioned her story.The Democrats at his trial-i mean hearing-didn’t question it. They were even going through Thomas garbage at his home [ private property ]literally trying to dig up dirt on him.Trust me,Planned Parenthood and NOW were both behind this assault on a good and decent man.

So let’s be honest. When racial slurs are thrown at black conservatives they’re not considered racist slurs.
Why is that?
I didn’t vote for Obama.In fact,i wasn’t crazy about the Republican nominees but i was less crazy about Obama.
You have to know that automatically makes me racist. You know why that is? It’s because the Democratic party and the Obama operatives hoped that would work. Hillary is going to try the same play book;except this time it’s going to be that i want to oppress women. Not very likely since i am a woman.Ok,i’m one of those crazy Catholic women.
